Rectangle inserts need to reach the corners of the cover. That's the most important thing. A 55×35 cm insert in a 55×35 cm cover will sit correctly; going slightly over (say, 60×40 cm if you can find it) gives more plump. Never go smaller — a short or narrow insert will leave the ends of a rectangle cover empty and shapeless.
